Wanstead Hospital

Makepeace Rd, London E11 1UU, UK – 020 8532 2711

Excellent new facilities. This is the 2nd time I’ve had blood taken here. 1st time I had to wait 2, yes that’s 2 minutes. This time it was fairly full and I waited 30 minutes. Very professional and a good advert for how it looks when the NHS gets it right. Well done.

My fiance had her ankle operation and then they send her for rehabilitation here. The staff was helpful and everything was perfectly fine now with her leg after just a few sessions of rehabilitation. We would like to tell a huge THANK YOU to all the staff.

The Holly Private Hospital

High Rd, Buckhurst Hill IG9 5HX, UK – 020 8505 3311

I suffer hugely from anxiety following being caught up in a major incident years ago. The thought of an MRI...with all the attendant issues ( noise, claustrophobia etc) was practically driving me over the edge. After two abortive attempts I came along today and was met by two radiographers. To say that they were excellent is an understatement- they engaged and empathised with me. They got me through it. Thanks to the team you were brilliant Paul

DO NOT go there as an NHS patient. We have never encountered such discrimination as when at the Holly, from the car park (only pay if you are NHS) to the appointments, there is a condecending, patronising attitude from some staff - a few only, but it’s enough to make us feel like second class. At every turn, the question ‘Are you private or NHS?’is asked. Does it matter? I have been to the BUPA and Nuffield Hospitals, all through NHS, and have only ever been treated with kindness and respect, but the Holly is incredible in its arrogance. I should stress, this is only some staff, but when the phone is answered with the words ‘The Holly Private Hospital’ it kind of sets the tone for the rest of the place. If they really don’t want NHS patients (or money), they should stick to private only.

Whipps Cross University Hospital

Whipps Cross Rd, Leytonstone, London E11 1NR, UK – 020 8539 5522

A George V (1917) rambling hospital though modernised. Respiratory Medicine is excellent and sent me for a lifesaving operation and have checkups every 6 months. On the other hand I was admitted to Urology, caught an infection there which caused serious complications which made me on antibiotics for 4 months, nasty nasty ward. Services like x-rays,scans,cardiac, nuclear medicine etc are excellent..

Unfortunately had to use children's A & E lately and staff etc were fantastic. Friends have also said the same when they have used this service. Took someone to adult a & e and again fantastic apart from long waiting time which was no refection on the brilliant staff that work extremely hard and were so friendly and helpful. Really appreciate having this hospital nearby. Thank you.

The new NHS website below is very well worth a look. Hospitals are not only listed but evaluated. I certainly know which ones I would go to! At the very least you will know what questions to ask if you are sent to one which has not entered its data. Good luck!
